Through a grant awarded by the state of Illinois, JCHD, in cooperation with city and county governments, surveys and controls mosquitoes with the potential of being disease carriers. Investigations of "trouble spots" are made and eliminated when possible. If total elimination is not possible, the area is surveyed and larvacided on a regular basis. JCHD environmental health staff is licensed public applicators by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
