"Foodborne illness, despite the progress which has been achieved in food protection programs continues to be a major public health problem," (Food Service Sanitation Code). Within the food protection program, JCHD environmental staff undertake activities to identify, reduce and whenever possible, eliminate factors which may cause foodborne illness. This is achieved by permitting and performing routine inspections of all permanent, mobile and temporary food service establishments within the county. State rules and regulations, as well as a county ordinance, are used as a legal base for all inspections.
